I have just had the pleasure to work with an amazing artist named Hitoshi Okamoto. He had been hired to design and create the growing puppet of “audrey 2” the giant man-eating plant for the musical Little Shop of Horrors. This means; a variety of sizes, the little guy, the medium sized one, and a giant plant pod, that will actually swallow an actor whole.
Hitoshi asked if I could help the process and coordinate some extra helpers while he jumped out of town to show some visiting family the northern lights from waaaaaay up north.
Wow! I have learned so much; from understanding different types of glues and paints; to what it means to work under someone else’s vision. I have to say that I learned a lot through making mistakes… but nothing that couldn’t be fixed. (errrgh.. heheh).
