LARRY

…A hoser’s foray into feminism…..

“Smart – Real – Deep – Ugly –  Beautiful – Vulnerable and Completely Crazy. A brilliant piece!”- Raina Von Waldenburg

“A unique, world class, moving piece of theatre, comedy, dance, and clown.” Annette Loiselle, Artistic Director SkirtsAfire Festival, Edmonton

“It is impossible to summarize this spiritual experience as a viewer”- Edouard (via Steemit blog)

“This show is clever, cathartic, hilarious and wickedly compassionate. After the past few days of feeling anger and despair and exhaustion over the Kavanaugh hearings, this gender bending feminist physical comedy was deeply needed. Thank the gods for brave artists and the things they create, we would be so lost otherwise.”Jaqueline Russell

Can a man get in touch with his femininity without losing his balls?

Meet Larry, from Moose Creek, BC. He’s “no idiom”, and he’ll be the first to tell you that he’s handier than a pocket on the back of a shirt! Larry wants to prove that he’s worthy of a good woman, that he can quit drinking and even take up meditation.

With dance, clown and physical theatre, award-winning artist Candice Roberts reflects social constructs around gender stereotypes while exposing our shared humanity through laughter. She examines her experience as a woman raised in rural BC in the 80s through her very alter ego LARRY, a male character archetypal of those involved in her upbringing.

Bold, smart and f#*king funny, LARRY’s internal turmoil turns out to be more terrifying than he ever thought possible.
